Re-Source Project

Read about the Re-Source Project

SourceFM, in partnership with Falmouth Town Council, are converting and extending the historic Lodge in Kimberley Park into a community café, a two-studio community radio station and a recording / rehearsal space with multiple uses for the people of Falmouth / Penryn area

Launched in 2009, SourceFM, your community radio station, has continuously been enabling residents, groups, associations and independent businesses to have a voice that can be heard.

We help to provide them with a real and tangible sense of belonging to an energetic and creative community-spirited project, thus improving mental health, general well being and strong sense of purpose, direction and hopefully a brighter future.

A shining example is Rosie Dunstan who was 15 when she started. She wanted to learn about radio and reached out to us. We took her in and trained her, and now she has one of the most popular shows on the station.

"Since joining Source FM I’ve trained in many different areas from outside broadcasts, interviews, Parklive and even my own weekly radio show. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging. It’s a real inspiration and my hope is to carry this on into my future, to share my love of music and broadcast. It has changed my life, made me so much more confident, and given me more self-belief".

There are a lot of ‘Rosies’ out there who would love this opportunity.

SourceFM needs you!

Under the guidance of leading industry experts Malcolm Joseph (Grace Jones and ex-Massive Attack) and Carey Davis (Allen and Heath), our plan is to re-fit the new complex (under construction) with industry-standard equipment (our current studios are ‘end of life’ and failing daily).

Via a series of courses, we will help young people learn all aspects of music and sound. We are also setting up partnerships to deliver training with organisations such as Tech Girls, the Dracaena Centre, local schools and many others.

To achieve this, we need to raise funds to fit-out the studios.

We started planning this project in 2019 and submitted our proposal to the Good Growth Cornwall Fund.

We were granted planning permission in November 2022 but it took a long time for the funding to be approved. It finally came through in September 2023 which was unfortunately after the period of massive inflation.

As such, there was only enough money for the build, although we have had to make a lot of adjustments to reduce the cost to match the grant.

This is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to your local community.

We are now gaining the support of local people and businesses like yourself to help support us by choosing elements of the project that you wish to sponsor, or simply by donating an amount that you are able to afford.

Local business names will then feature on our website and on a prominently displayed plaque in the reception area of the complex listing our kind, generous and community-spirited supporters.

We will also be creating jobs to cover the management and running of the studio complex. This will mean one full-time job and several part-time jobs to ensure the smooth running of the operation.

This is one of the most important creative projects to have been built in this area for years, a project that would offer enormous benefit to all members of our community.

We would love for you to be involved!
