Steve says his Redruth passport is still valid, but he made the big move to Truro years ago.
He has worked at a selection of radio stations starting with London Hospital Broadcasting Network and Steve also trained with the United Biscuit Network in-house radio station in London, then hung around various American Radio Stations including WABC New York & KSLQ St Louis.
During the late 70’s he presented the International Top 40, Breakfast and Twilight Time shows on The Voice Of Peace radio Station in Israel, VOP was an international radio station based onboard the MV Peace anchored in international waters off the coast of Tel Aviv, the ship’s powerful 50,000 watt signal covered the Middle East, Cyprus, Greece etc. Station supporters included John Lennon and Abba, it was operated by Peace campaigner Abbie Nathan.
Steve has also worked as a presenter at CHBN whilst at CHBN he was also responsible for training new presenters and helping them to develop their individual broadcasting styles.
Recently Steve could also be heard on NJoy radio, a countywide DAB station where he presented Cornwall’s Late Night Chill.
Steve can also be heard on Mi Amigo International, a shortwave Dutch based radio station that has a worldwide audience, the station seeks to recreate the sound of the sixties & seventies offshore stations with the shows being presented by former offshore DJ’s.
Steve has a keen interest in the technical side of broadcasting and has recently built his own studio and designed and built the new disabled access studio for The Source. He also helps with advice and assistance in on-going maintenance issues.
