Be a Presenter

How to be a Community Radio Presenter

SourceFM is a community radio station and as such is open to anyone in our community to to join the station and the fun!

To be a presenter, all you need is an interest in radio. We will do the rest!

We offer comprehensive training in both how to use the equipment, and also broadcasting techniques.

There are various types of show you could do.

You could be or maybe you are a local musician who wishes to promote your gigs and even perform some of your original music. SourceFM is the place to do it! - Musicians are very interesting guests!

Your studio guests could be from all walks of life. Everybody has a story, and lots would love the opportunity to share it!

Outside Broadcasts - One of the most fun things in radio is doing outside broadcasts. This is a great way to meet people and support local events, or which we have many in the Falmouth and Penryn areas.

We welcome all age groups to come on air either in the studio or at an outside broadcast.

How do you get involved?

You just need to get in touch with us and make an appointment - We can then chat about your aspirations and what you show idea is. We can even help you to formulate a show if you are not sure what you want to do!

Would you get help?

We offer full training in both how to use the equipment and how to produce a radio show. We try to stick as close to your idea as we can and help you bring it to our audience. We can even sit with you on the first couple of shows until you are full confident.

What if I dont want to operate equipment?

There is still a place for you! - We can provide someone who will work with you to ensure you have a great show!

Shows with guests! - Community Radio has a very important role to play now that the BBC is no longer 100% regional and Independent radio is largely broadcast from London.

We need to invite members of our community in to the studios to speak about their lives and projects

Or it could be local people who have a story that they wish to share. Being a presenter can be so interesting. It will enable you to meet and chat with people who you might not normally get together with!

Music Shows - You might prefer to do a show about your musical tastes. SourceFM offers a very eclectic mix of music shows, and it might be that your ideas would fit into this.

Supporting Events - SourceFM support many events by actively broadcasting from them. Events such as the Stithians Show, Tall Ships Race, Shanty Festival, Oyster Festival are just some examples.

Don't wish to speak but still be involved? - You may feel that you don't want to speak on the microphone, so we also have roles of Studio Managers (the people who operate the equipment) and researchers and producers. There will always be something for you in community radio!
